roof on, window & doors in (thru Oct.31st-08)

Alot has changed since I last updated. Here we are lifting the sheeting up to nail on. Doing the sheeting was really hard. Mostly because of walking tilted for soooooo long.

Roofing all on with burgandy trim. We had to do the trim just before the roof. We were so warn out by the time we got to the roof, that we hired it out to a guy we knew who was between houses. It saved us. He did a great job.

View from our bedroom. The water and Harbor Isles golf course.

This is the breakfast nook area. We don't know what else to call it. It's just off the kitchen.

This is the living room/dining area looking toward front of house. 2 beds and a bath to the left.

This is my front door. Jesse our son-in-law oversaw the making of all our doors at Lumber Products in Portland. He got us a great deal. (It's not stained yet)

Windows all in.

Time for the garage slab. A guy at Jerry's work does cement so we hired him. Cement is not that fun for us!!

We needed a break!! We were able to go to California for Joella's baby shower. Only 7 or so more weeks to go. She's due Dec. 16th. It's a boy. Probably Levi Ryan. Jessica and Jamie flew down to join the party. We are walking the beach at Pismo while Jeremy was surfing with our nephew.

We were also able to go out to Anacapa Island, out of Ventura for a 3 dive day. Jeremy, Joella's husband joined us. It was beautiful out there and perfect dive weather. Lots of lobster and we caught a picture (not very good) of a bat ray. He was beautiful.

We are working on the siding now. Jared is on his way down to help us for a few days.

Progress on Birt House-trusses up

Trusses are finally up and we're getting ready to start the roofing. Lots of brackets, outrigging (?) and stuff to do first. We had lots of help which we are thankful. Ben Seck, Andrew Cedarleaf, Phil Starling and our neighbor Authur, plus Jerry and I and the crane operator! Took us 7 hours!!

We want to have the roof on before we go to Joella's & Jeremy's for her baby shower and to dive, Oct. 15th. At least it's starting to look like a house. We have the windows ordered and soon the doors.

August-September progress on Birt House

August was VERY busy and a little hard working out in the heat. Josh came for over a week to help. Jared & Jesse came for a day here and there and helped too. Gram and Gramps came for a week or more too. Gramps worked really hard while Gram helped supervise the project.
Jared & Josh are finishing up the sewer ditch. I, (LaRea) had the job of putting the dirt back!!

Then came all the rough in plumbing. Gas, sewer and water. That was quite a job!! And it got pretty hot!! We did it all!!

Finally time for the flooring, which went pretty fast with so many helping. I think Jerry, Josh, Jared, Jesse & Gramps did the floor. I got a break!!

Then as you can see the first walls went up and all the inside framing and then the sheeting. All you see here has taken about a month. The trusses come Monday, Sept. 8th, and I'll post more pictures after they are up.
